McDonnell concedes

McDonnell concedes his leadership bid, describing his search for enough nominations as "mathematically impossible".

He might be a bit of a smug fatty, but i think Salmond might actually be the best choice for First Minister. He doesn't have enough support to get the more extreme of the SNP's policies put through, so he's not really a threat. But for many years now, he's given the impression he actually cares about Scotland more than any of his rivals.

Nah, it's just been my thinking that things have been a bit stale up here for a few years now. A bit complacent, a lack of effort from Labour, if you will. Now Salmond's got the big job, it means the status quo has been broken and we've got the potential for some interesting times ahead.

Of course, on the flip side, it could all go to tits...
